The combination of marina, restaurant and sailing center ensures a lively marina. In the design a separation has been made between the berths and the sailing center, the sailing center being in the northern part of the basin and the berths in the southern part.

History
To enhance Netherlands position as an important sailing nation, it was deemed necessary to establish a sailing center with modern facilities such as boat storage, reception area, secretary and press rooms as well as changing rooms and showers. Of course, in Medemblik. Such a facility could only be realized in conjunction with a large size marina and grants from NOC*NSF, the town of Medemblik, Royal Netherlands Yachting Union, Ministry of Welfare and the Province of North Holland. Together they ensured realization of the new marina and sailing center. On November 9th 1998 Roy Heiner drove the “first pole” into the sandy bottom for the construction of the harbor building. Marina and International Sailing Center were officially opened on May 22nd 1999 by members of the Province Council of North Holland and members of the Dutch Olympic sailing squad.

The sailing center is owned by the Association International Sailing Center Medemblik, in which the town of Medemblik and the Royal Netherlands Yachting Union participate.
